Our brand new black walnut kitchen boards are all abuzz, and will soon be ready to travel from us to you. So, why did we use black walnut as our wood of choice? Three reasons: rarity, quality, and durability.

Black walnut wood is the only dark North American wood, making it both rare and valuable. More specifically, the wood usually boasts a rich chocolate brown color with magnificent hues of dark purple.

The wood’s tight grain makes it extremely stable, and accounts for why it has been a favorite of Americans from the earliest settlers to present day. Black walnut wood is also inherently shock-resistant and does not shrink or swell easily.

The wood’s beautiful aesthetic, paired with its hardness and stability, makes us love to use the boards both as cutting surfaces and for serving, and we know you will too!
